Since its founding in 2001, GP7 Cinema has built a track record marked not only by the production of audiovisual content, but also by the in-house and strategic distribution of a large portion of its works across different distribution windows.
Over more than two decades of operation, the Paraná-based production company has established an independent model for content distribution, connecting its films and series directly to audiences and expanding the presence of Brazilian audiovisual content in movie theaters, on television channels, and on streaming platforms in Brazil and abroad.
The production company’s portfolio currently includes 66 productions, ranging from feature films, TV movies, TV episodes, reality shows, TV miniseries, and TV series—both fiction and documentary. Nearly all of the company’s works have reached the market through GP7 Cinema’s own distribution.
One of the most iconic examples of this work took place in the company’s early years, with the release of the documentary *Made in Ukraine*.
Produced by GP7 Cinema in 2005 and distributed entirely independently in 2006, the feature-length film toured 16 cities in southern Brazil, primarily in the state of Paraná, reaching approximately 13,000 moviegoers in theaters—a significant number for a documentary at that time. Later, the film was also released on DVD, surpassing the 1,500-copy sales mark.
The decision to pursue direct distribution arose after the project failed to attract interest from traditional distributors at the time, who believed that audience interest in a documentary about Ukrainian immigration to Brazil would be limited. The results achieved later proved exactly the opposite, turning “Made in Ukraine” into a pioneering case study of alternative and independent distribution in Paraná’s audiovisual industry.
Since then, GP7 Cinema has consistently acted as a distributor of its own works, either independently or in partnership with companies in the sector. Its catalog includes theatrical releases, licensing deals for free-to-air and pay TV, as well as distribution on digital platforms and national and international streaming services.
Recent examples include the release of the fiction feature film *Entrelinhas*, produced in partnership with the distributor Elo Studios, as well as the documentary *Aldeia Natal*, distributed directly by GP7 Cinema itself in Brazilian theaters. The production company also has extensive experience in international distribution and content licensing across multiple territories. Films such as *Iván*, *Contracapa*, and *Lamaçal / La Chancha* have reached television channels, digital platforms, and international markets in countries across Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
At this time, GP7 Cinema is further expanding its operations in the sector and officially establishing itself as a distributor, taking on the future release in the Brazilian market of two new fiction feature films currently in production:
– Tantas Coisas Contêm em Si o Acidente, directed by Ana Johann;
– *Resistência* (*Cuando Cae la Lluvia*), directed by Yanillys Pérez, an international co-production by GP7 Cinema involving Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and France.
Guto Pasko—founding partner of GP7 Cinema—states:
“Distribution remains the major bottleneck for the industry in Brazil. An audiovisual work only makes sense if it reaches its audience, regardless of the distribution window. That is why we decided to create our own distribution arm within GP7 Cinema.”
GP7 Cinema’s expansion into the field of distribution reinforces a strategic vision established from the very beginning of its journey: to develop original audiovisual content while simultaneously creating independent and sustainable pathways for these works to reach audiences across different territories and platforms.
