Production returns nine years after the first season, with eight 45-minute episodes set to premiere in the second half of 2027.
On October 19, 2026, GP7 Cinema began filming the second season of *Contracapa*, a fiction series that has marked the history of the Paraná-based production company and gained a foothold in various distribution channels in Brazil and on the international market. Filming is taking place in Curitiba and will continue through December 13, 2026.
Created by screenwriter Rafael Waltrick, “Contracapa” returns with a new season of eight episodes, each 45 minutes long. The first season, produced in 2017, consisted of 13 episodes, each 52 minutes long. The new season retains Guto Pasko as executive director, with Di Florentino serving as co-director; he joins the team in place of Argentine director Franco Verdoia, who co-directed the first season.
The cast of the second season includes 77 actors, all from Paraná. Among the new additions to the production are actress Simone Spoladore and actors Ligurgo Spinola and Ranieri Gonzalez, who join the cast from the series’ first season—including actresses Carolina Fauquemont, Michelle Pucci, Helena de Jorge Portela, Marrara Mara, and actors Tiago Luz, Renet Lyon, and Edson Rocha, among dozens of others.
For the creation and development of the scripts, Rafael Waltrick is once again collaborating with Tiago Lipka, in addition to the participation of screenwriters Maritza Muniz and script assistant Fernanda Leite.
The production is helmed by Andréia Kaláboa and Guto Pasko, through GP7 Cinema, with Kaláboa also serving as executive producer.
The technical team brings together professionals who have previously worked on other productions by the company and renews key partnerships: Isabelle Bittencourt returns as art director and João Castelo Branco as director of photography. Kênia de Souza takes on the role of production manager, while Rodrigo Bontempo serves as first assistant director. Robertinho Oliveira remains in charge of sound recording, and Lucas Cesario Pereira returns to edit the series.

The start of filming marks the realization of a project that has come a long way to reach the production of its second season. Initially approved and scheduled to be produced in 2019, Contracapa 2 had its timeline disrupted by the successive obstacles faced by the Brazilian audiovisual sector in recent years.
The suspension of audiovisual funding mechanisms beginning in 2019, during the federal administration of that period, and, subsequently, the COVID-19 pandemic, directly impacted the project’s continuity. It was not until late 2022 that production resumed, marking the start of a new phase of coordination and feasibility planning until, finally, cameras could start rolling again in 2026.
Nine years after the completion of the first season, the project’s resumption reaffirms the importance of sustained public policies to support audiovisual production and the existence of mechanisms capable of ensuring that independent projects can navigate different phases and reach their audience.
The first season of *Contracapa* enjoyed significant broadcast reach. On broadcast television, it premiered on TV Brasil and was also aired on TV Cultura and TVE Bahia. On pay TV, the series was licensed to the Sony-owned AXN channel and to Prime Box Brazil.
Internationally, it reached audiences in Angola and Mozambique, while in the streaming segment, it was added to Amazon’s Prime Video catalog, as well as the Looke and Box Brazil Play platforms.
The experience of distribution across different platforms established *Contracapa* as one of the standout series in GP7 Cinema’s history and expanded the reach of independent audiovisual production in Paraná.
For the second season, the production has already secured a pre-license from Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) for broadcast on TV Brasil. The plan is also to renew licenses with the other partners from the first season, further expanding the series’ distribution possibilities.
Scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2027, *Contracapa 2* continues a production that has spanned different moments in the recent history of Brazilian audiovisual media and returns to the screen with a new season, a refreshed team, and the experience accumulated over nearly a decade.
