A TV movie produced in Paraná by GP7 Cinema premieres on Cine BBB and brings “culturalocal” to TV Globo

"My Grandfather Stanislau," a co-production by GP7 Cinema, TV Globo, and RPC, will air on February 2, immediately following *Big Brother Brasil*, on *Tela Quente*

In 2026, TV Globo will launch a new series of audiovisual productions that celebrate Brazil’s cultural diversity. The Telefilmes Regionais project brings together fiction works produced in partnership with the network’s affiliates and regional stations in seven Brazilian states (Bahia, Espírito Santo, Pará, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, and São Paulo) and the Federal District. Featuring crews and casts made up of local talent, these productions—which run up to 50 minutes—will air nationwide on Cine BBB, as part of Big Brother Brazil, and also on Tela Quente, starting January 19.

Paraná is part of this initiative with the TV movie “Meu Avô Stanislau,” a co-production by TV Globo and RPC, directed by GP7 Cinema, which premieres on February 2, immediately following Big Brother Brazil. The film was shot in Prudentópolis, in the state’s interior, and tells a story deeply rooted in Paraná’s culture, with a cast and crew composed mainly of local professionals.

Set amid centuries-old araucaria trees, monumental waterfalls, and communities with strong Ukrainian traditions, the TV movie follows the encounter between two distinct worlds. On one hand, there’s Boris, a teenage gamer whose plans to compete in the finals of an online tournament are threatened when his mother takes him to spend a week at his grandfather’s farm. On the other, Stanislau, a community leader and one of the guardians of the region’s Ukrainian traditions, is involved in organizing the First Great Ukrainian Festival in the fictional Serra da Kalena

Initially marked by conflict, the relationship between grandfather and grandson transforms following an unlikely agreement: Boris helps with the festival preparations, and in exchange, Stanislau takes him to the highest points of the mountain range—the only places with internet signal where the young man can practice with his team. Amid tasks, challenges, and discoveries, the two build a relationship marked by humor, affection, and mutual learning.

“My Grandfather Stanislau” is a story about family, belonging, and the intersection of tradition and innovation. The film celebrates the strength of the community, Ukrainian cultural identity in Paraná, and the connections possible between generations—universal themes told from a local perspective.

For producer and director Guto Pasko, filming in Prudentópolis also holds personal significance. “The TV movie shows a different Brazil—a foreign Brazil, a Brazil ‘Made in Paraná.’ Filming this TV movie in Prudentópolis, in a way, is also portraying the history of my ancestors, since my family came from Ukraine in 1896 and helped found the municipality,” he notes.

RPC’s Director of Programming, Marcelo Dias Lopes, emphasizes the importance of local production within a national broadcast window. “Producing films with stories, crews, and settings from Paraná and airing them on national television increases the visibility of our culture and our talent. It’s an opportunity to show that stories born here have the power to resonate with audiences across Brazil,” he says.
