GP7 Cinema announces the completion of “RELICÁRIO”, a new fiction feature film directed by Guto Pasko. Running 80 minutes, the film moves between drama, suspense, and psychological horror to weave an intense narrative about trauma, memory, domestic violence, and secrets that span generations.

With a screenplay by Rafael Waltrick, RELICÁRIO is now ready to begin its journey through the national and international film festival circuit, aiming for a strategic premiere before reaching the Brazilian commercial circuit, with a release scheduled for early 2027.

Set in rural Paraná, the feature film follows a family marked by loss, resentment, and deep trauma. In a narrative built around a mounting atmosphere of tension—constantly flirting with horror and the supernatural—the film explores how the past can become a tangible presence, capable of emotionally trapping those who try to escape it.

The cast brings together prominent names from Paraná’s artistic scene, such as Rodrigo Ferrarini, Rosana Stavis, and Carolina Meinerz, as well as experienced actresses Debora Olivieri—known for her work in productions like “Terra Nostra” and “Chiquititas”—and Vaneza Francisca, a cast member of the Netflix series “3%”.

Filming took place between February and March 2024 in the municipalities of Ribeirão Claro and Campo do Tenente, utilizing real locations that help build the work’s oppressive and unsettling atmosphere.

One of the key distinguishing features of RELICÁRIO lies in its visual style. The cinematography, directed by João Castelo Branco, began to take shape following the project’s participation in EnergaCAMERIMAGE, held in Poland and recognized as the world’s most prestigious festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and its creators.

It was in this international setting that the conceptual foundations of the feature film’s visual identity were established. Following the experience at the Polish festival, the director of photography, in collaboration with Guto Pasko, chose to shoot the film using HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology, expanding the range of contrast, depth, and visual density of the film.

This technical choice was made possible through a partnership with Canon, which directly contributed to the creation of the film’s unique visual atmosphere.

The aesthetic identity of RELICÁRIO is further enhanced by the art direction of Rô Melink. The collaboration between cinematography and art direction was crucial to creating an atmosphere marked by claustrophobia, memory, and emotional deterioration—central elements of the narrative.

For Guto Pasko, the film represents another step forward for the production company in consolidating auteur works with the potential for international distribution.

“RELICÁRIO stems from a desire to explore family bonds in their most intimate, painful, and, at times, frightening dimensions. It is a film that uses genre as a language, but which speaks above all about memory, guilt, silence, and the deep scars that span generations.”

Following its festival run, the feature film will hit Brazilian theaters, distributed by ELO Studios.

The release strategy aims to expand the presence of Brazilian genre cinema in the market, help build new audiences, and strengthen future commercial distribution channels, including television and streaming platforms.

Synopsis

Following their father’s sudden death, siblings Theodoro and Sheila are forced to return with their families to the large mansion where they grew up and from which they have been estranged for years. Upon reuniting with their mother, Olívia—a bitter and mysterious woman—old traumas resurface. As inexplicable events begin to surround the family, buried secrets emerge, revealing abuse, loss, and ghosts that seem to thwart any attempt to escape.
