The writing room for Season 2 of CONTRACAPA begins work in Curitiba

In the first week of August 2025, GP7 Cinema began the script development process for the second season of the series CONTRACAPA. This new phase marks the official start of work by the creative team responsible for continuing the production, representing another important step in strengthening the Paraná-based production company’s serial fiction division.

Created by Rafael Waltrick, the series now returns to the writing phase, with the creator himself once again taking on the role of head writer for the season. The writing room has been set up at GP7 Cinema’s headquarters in Curitiba. Joining Waltrick on the writing team are Tiago Lipka—who also contributed to the dramatic development of the first season—and Maritza Muniz. The team also includes Fernanda Leite as the scriptroom assistant.

Work in the writing room is expected to last at least six months, with all episodes scheduled for delivery in early 2026. Filming is scheduled for the second half of next year. The new season will continue to delve deeper into the investigative and police universe that defined the series’ first season, expanding on conflicts, characters, and dramatic layers within the contemporary suspense and thriller framework that characterizes CONTRACAPA.

The second season will once again be directed by Paraná-based filmmaker Guto Pasko, with production by Andréia Kaláboa and Pasko himself.

In the main storyline of the new season, journalists from the fictional newspaper Gazeta Brasileira will investigate the activities of the public transportation mafia and its intricate connections to the local political sphere. While following the developments of the journalistic investigation, the series will also delve into themes related to misinformation, the manipulation of public opinion, and the impacts of new power dynamics in the digital environment, expanding the contemporary debate that defines CONTRACAPA’s narrative identity.

For GP7 Cinema, the launch of the scriptroom represents yet another strategic step in the process of consolidating the series and reinforces the production company’s commitment to the ongoing development of original projects aimed at the audiovisual market.
