The company has released 66 films, is working on five strategic productions in 2026—including releases, post-production, and new shoots—maintains a portfolio of 40 projects in development, and is expanding its presence in television, streaming, and international co-productions
The Curitiba-based production company GP7 Cinema will celebrate its 25th anniversary in June 2026, marking the strongest period in its history. Founded in 2001 by filmmakers Guto Pasko and Andréia Kaláboa, the company reaches this milestone with 66 works produced and released, including feature films, series, documentaries, TV movies, and television content, in addition to an active pipeline of film, TV, and international co-productions.
Today, GP7 Cinema is the only production company in the state of Paraná with a Level 5 classification from ANCINE, one of the key indicators of technical capacity, operational track record, and volume of productions in the Brazilian audiovisual sector.
The company’s most recent major project is the TV movie “Meu Avô Stanislau,” produced in co-production with TV Globo and RPC TV. Aired nationwide in February 2026 on the Cine BBB and Tela Quente blocks, the film reached 16.6 million viewers on its premiere and subsequently became the most-watched film on Globoplay. In Paraná, the rerun on RPC TV drew an additional 930,000 viewers. In total, more than 20 million Brazilians watched the production, set in a community of Ukrainian immigrants in Prudentópolis.
The partnership between GP7 and RPC TV is a long-standing one and includes the production of 27 episodes of fiction for the “Casos e Causos” project, including the miniseries “Colônia Cecília – Uma História de Amor e Utopia.”
Intellectual Property with Multiplatform Distribution
In the series segment, GP7 established a pioneering project with “Contracapa,” considered the first major independent series produced in the state of Paraná. Directed by Guto Pasko, its first season was produced in 2017 and consisted of 13 episodes, each 52 minutes long.
The series aired on broadcast TV on TV Brasil, TV Paraná Turismo, TV Cultura, and TVE Bahia. On pay TV, the series was licensed to AXN, owned by Sony Pictures Television, and later to channels in the Box Brazil group in Brazil, Angola, and Mozambique.
On streaming platforms, *Contracapa* premiered on Looke and, in 2021, was added to the Amazon Prime Video catalog, as well as the Box Brazil Play platform. The series’ second season will begin production in 2026, now consisting of eight 45-minute episodes.
In the film industry, the company is also expanding its commercial presence. The fiction feature film “Entrelinhas,” directed by Guto Pasko, was the big winner at Cine PE in 2023, taking home five awards, including Best Director and Best Actress. Following its theatrical release in 2024, the film was licensed to the U.S. network AMC and to Amazon Prime Video.
GP7’s international presence is also reflected in the documentary “IVÁN,” directed by Guto Pasko. Released commercially in 2015, the feature film was distributed in 13 countries and later licensed to the History Channel and Amazon Prime Video, establishing itself as one of the most widely distributed international titles in the production company’s catalog.
Even before its commercial release, “IVÁN” gained international recognition by being part of UNHCR’s #IBelong campaign, a global initiative launched by the UN in 2014 dedicated to raising awareness about forced displacement, belonging, and human rights.
In addition to commercial distribution, GP7’s films have participated in and won awards at festivals such as the São Paulo International Film Festival, the Brasília Brazilian Film Festival, Olhar de Cinema, the Tiradentes Film Festival, and Cine PE, where “Aldeia Natal” won the awards for Best Screenplay and Best Editing in 2022.
Pipeline 2026: Film, Television, and International Expansion
To mark its 25th anniversary, GP7 is working on five strategic productions in 2026 at different stages of the audiovisual production chain, including commercial releases, post-production, and new shoots.
Among the releases are “Relicário,” a new feature film directed by Guto Pasko, and “Sereis Uma Só Carne,” Andréia Kaláboa’s directorial debut in feature-length fiction. The project, co-produced with Tabebuia Audiovisual, had its screenplay selected for the development program of the Fundación Carolina in Madrid.
The company is also wrapping up the feature film “Tantas Coisas Contém em Si o Acidente,” directed by Ana Johann.
In production, the company is preparing the second season of “Contracapa” and expanding into the international market with “Resistência,” directed by Yanillys Perez, a co-production between Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and France.
Following the co-production with Argentina on the feature film “Lamaçal,” directed by Franco Verdoia, “Resistência” expands the company’s international strategy. The project has already been presented at development platforms and markets such as the Sundance Institute, Locarno Open Doors, MAFIZ, and La Fabrique Cinéma in Cannes.
Continuous Development and Long-Term Vision
In addition to its catalog and ongoing productions, GP7 Cinema maintains a permanent development department dedicated to creating new intellectual property, in partnership with screenwriters and directors from different regions of Brazil. Currently, the company manages a portfolio of approximately 40 projects in development, including feature films, series, documentaries, and multiplatform content.
Throughout its history, the production company has also regularly participated in strategic markets such as Rio2C, Ventana Sur, the San Sebastián Co-Production Forum, and the Marché du Film.
At 25 years old, GP7 Cinema combines a well-established catalog, a national audience, multiplatform distribution, industrial capacity, and a growing internationalization strategy—positioning itself as one of the expanding Brazilian independent production companies in the contemporary audiovisual market.
