GP7 Cinema is holding auditions for the international feature film RESISTÊNCIA

An international co-production directed by Dominican filmmaker Yanillys Pérez is seeking a Brazilian transgender actress who is fluent in Spanish to play the character Amanda.

GP7 Cinema announces the opening of a national casting call to select the actress who will play Amanda, one of the central characters in the fictional feature film RESISTÊNCIA (Cuando Cae La Lluvia), directed and written by Dominican filmmaker Yanillys Pérez.

The casting call is exclusively for Brazilian transgender women who are fluent in Spanish and between the ages of 35 and 50, to play a charismatic, affectionate character with a strong human presence.

Applications are open to candidates from all over Brazil until August 10, 2026.

RESISTÊNCIA is an international co-production between Brazil, the Dominican Republic, and France, produced by GP7 Cinema, YPR Films, and Novoprod Cinema. Filming will take place entirely in the Dominican Republic and is scheduled to occur between September and November 2026.

A story of survival, abandonment, and inner strength

Set in a remote region of the Dominican Republic, the film follows Resistência, a 12-year-old girl who must care for her two younger sisters on her own while her mother works in a larimar mine deep in the heart of the tropical jungle.

Amid the harsh realities of survival, social violence, and fractured family ties, the young girl embarks on a journey of maturation marked by ancestral spirituality, abandonment, and the discovery of her own inner strength—symbolically guided by the presence of a guardian jaguar.

The character Amanda is part of this universe of complex and profound human relationships, created by Yanillys Pérez through a narrative that weaves together social, emotional, and spiritual themes in a landscape shaped by the power of nature and the contradictions of everyday life.

An international co-production

Written and directed by Yanillys Pérez, a filmmaker from the Dominican Republic, *RESISTÊNCIA* is produced by YPR Films, from the Dominican Republic, in co-production with GP7 Cinema, from Brazil, and Novoprod Cinema, from France.

The project has been gaining momentum in major international development and co-production forums, solidifying a partnership among three countries and their distinct cinematic traditions.

A role in the film represents an opportunity for a Brazilian actress to join an international production, with filming taking place entirely in the Dominican Republic and the performance in Spanish.
