Made in Ukraine

Feature-Length Documentary | Color | 102 minutes | 2006

SYNOPSIS

“Made in Ukraine” traces the history of Ukrainian immigration to the state of Paraná, from the arrival of the first immigrants 110 years ago to the present day, showing how the immigrants have kept all their traditions and customs alive—such as their language, folklore, religious practices, songs, handicrafts, and architecture, directly influencing the culture of Paraná.
The film also draws a parallel between the Ukrainian communities in Brazil and the history of ancient Ukraine —from the Principality of Kiev to the present day— highlighting that, a century later, Ukraine’s economic and political situation has not changed much, and the cycles of immigration continue.
