*Sereis Uma Só Carne*, Andréia Kaláboa’s new feature film co-produced by GP7 Cinema, has been completed and is set to premiere at film festivals

GP7 Cinema and Tabebuia Audiovisual have just completed post-production on *Sereis Uma Só Carne*, a feature-length fiction film directed by Andréia Kaláboa. Filmed between June and July 2024, the project has now reached its final version and is set to embark on its international journey, with a premiere scheduled on the festival circuit in the coming months.

 

Andréia Kaláboa’s first feature-length fiction film as a director, *Sereis Uma Só Carne* is a psychological drama that addresses female empowerment, domestic violence, and silencing within the religious sphere, through the intimate journey of its protagonist, Amélia.
 
The film is a co-production between Tabebuia Audiovisual and GP7 Cinema, with associate production by Armada Rental and distribution by Elo Studios, as part of the ELAS label—an initiative dedicated to strengthening and promoting feature films directed by women in Brazil.
 
Written by Andréia Kaláboa in collaboration with Tiago Lipka, the project has undergone a consistent development process and participated in major international and national labs, including the 14th Course on the Development of Ibero-American Film Projects, organized by the Fundación Carolina in Madrid, Spain, with support from the Ibermedia Program; the 5th Novas Histórias Lab, organized by SESC São Paulo – Novas Histórias; and the Curitiba Lab, held as part of the Olhar de Cinema festival.
 
The feature film stars Carolina Borelli as Amélia and Rafael Losso as Pastor Sérgio, and also brings together prominent figures from Paraná’s audiovisual scene in its cast, such as Raquel Rizzo, Zeca Cenovicz, Giovanna Soar, Saravy, and Kauê Persona.
 
One of the standout aspects of the production was the formation of a predominantly female crew: approximately 90% of the artistic and technical leadership roles were held by women. Among the key highlights are Isabelle Bittencourt as art director, Hellen Braga as director of photography, and Juliana Caimi as production manager. The team also included Ana Catarina Lugarini as assistant director and Kelly Bill as first assistant director. Editing was handled by the experienced Joana Collier, and Grace Torres served as music director.
 
With *Sereis Uma Só Carne*, Andréia Kaláboa expands upon artistic research she began in her previous work in television and short films, now solidifying her feature film debut with a work of strong aesthetic and thematic identity.
 
Synopsis

Amélia gave up her career as a singer when she married Pastor Sérgio. Since then, she has lived for the church, her family, and her two adopted children. At home, her marriage is marked by control and silence. When the possibility arises of singing again at church services, something begins to shift. Music reopens cracks in her perception of herself and the world. In her fantasies, Amélia experiments with other ways of being and, little by little, regains her own voice.

 

Caught between faith, fear, and desire, she begins to confront not only her husband but an entire system that perpetuates her silence.
