SYNOPSIS

A documentary that follows the so-called “Exchange Clubs” in the Curitiba metropolitan area. At these gatherings, all sorts of things are exchanged: agroecological foods, handcrafted items, stories, and personal accounts. In a subtle yet resilient way, the Clubs establish self-managed systems for the circulation of goods that resist the dominant logic of global capitalism. The inclusion of solidarity and affection in these exchanges is evident in the name given to the new “currency”: the pinhão, a local food that holds significant meaning for the very history of these communities.

The practices of these Exchange Clubs enable people to come together, engage in dialogue, and often break out of isolation, join hands, and seek collective solutions to shared problems.
